Compete is recruiting an outstanding and experienced account-facing individual to join its Travel practice.  Compete is revolutionizing the way companies use the Internet as a marketing, distribution, customer relationship and consumer research channel.  The Sales Director is responsible for leveraging Compete’s proprietary data set of consumer behavior and survey capabilities to develop and deploy new data-driven intelligence services that will create immediate and recurring value for the industry.  Compete is a rewarding, fast paced, and intense work environment.

The Sales Director will focus on positioning and selling Compete’s products and services to new and existing clients in the travel space.  The Sales Director will be responsible for developing the messaging, approach, and execution of all customer acquisition strategies focused on all travel segments.


Specific responsibilities include:

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop outreach and sales plan to target immediate revenue opportunities from both the existing client base as well as new prospect opportunities
  • Manage outbound correspondence and messaging, understand and leverage collateral on Compete’s current and new products and services (Search Intelligence, Marketing Effectiveness, Online Channel Effectiveness, etc.)
  • Ensure that proposed solutions accurately address client needs, fully leverage Compete capabilities, and ensure solutions are priced to Compete standards
  • Continuously set the stage for renewals and upsells based on the combination of discovery in Compete deliverables, industry knowledge, and recurring client contact
  • Communicate client and industry needs internally to inform the development of new products and services based on client needs

Qualifications include:
  • At least 5 years of sales experience in Internet, consulting, consumer marketing or market research industries
  • An aggressive, results-oriented and tangible track record of sales success based on reaching new and renewal quotas and milestones
  • Proven ability to develop and manage long-term client relationships, including with senior executives
  • The ability to understanding and convey the benefits of consulting-oriented solutions to clients, prospects, and influencers
  • Success in revealing, understanding, and communicating client pain points
  • The ability to concisely convey how Compete solutions solve specific client needs, including in proposals
  • The ability to partner with Compete Client Services and Marketing teams in developing and leveraging outreach and related materials
  • Strong contact networks within the travel industry and a clear strategy for leveraging and growing this network
  • Excellent organization skills including experience with sales process tools, such as SalesForce
  • Outstanding personal references
