Compete is recruiting a junior level designer skilled in both web design and on/offline marketing creation to join the compete.com team.
The Junior Designer will work as part of a creative team responsible for helping to support two key groups within compete.com:
He/she will be responsible for creating compelling user experiences through interactions and visual designs as part of the Compete PRO User Interface. The Junior Designer will own the creation of features from concept to design comp and then see them through the development process.
He/she will also be responsible for creating and developing on and offline marketing collateral to support the marketing team. This includes continuing to evolve and maintain the adoption of consistent and superior design standards across products, marketing materials, and the company as a whole.
The Junior Designer will have the chance to be a positive and visible force in a small but growing team that is working hard to release great products and innovative marketing to rapidly grow our business.
Responsibilities include:
- Work with our marketing team to create designs for both on and offsite marketing collateral in either digital or print formats, respectively. Create, Design, and Develop visual designs for:
- email and social media campaigns
- on and off site landing pages
- marketing related pages on compete.com
- print and branded collateral
- Work with our product team to turn business requirements into designs and interactions for features that are a part of the compete.com user interface. Create and Design:
- task flows
- wireframes / mockups
- complete visual design comps (including visual designs) to hand off to development
- create original icons, graphics, logos for use within the product
- Regularly and rapidly interface with the web developers in an Agile development environment to communicate visual and interaction designs into finished products.
- Help to create and enforce brand standards and visual style guides across products and communications.
- 1-3 years prior work experience or relevant education
- Portfolio or examples of work required
- Expert in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign or comparable.
- Must demonstrate an excellent understanding of composition, color, page layout and typography
- Ability to layout and finish designs in HTML/CSS if need be
- “Knowledge of” or “willingness to learning” User Experience / Usability principles
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environment
- Must be able to iterate, iterate, iterate
- Must be able to put the user first
- Must consistently meet tight deadlines
- Ability to take directions and follow established styles
- Must be able to take constructive design feedback
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize
- Highly organized, accurate and detail oriented
- Great communication skills
- Experience coding designs for email would be great
- Copy-editing (not writing) skills a big plus
