If you’ve seen our Compete Web Developer post before, yes, we’re posting it again! We have added many new members and are STILL growing. We feel lucky to be growing our web development team so much this year – and would like to speak with YOU if you’re interested in a small, entrepreneurial web development team where each individual is respected for their strengths.

Here's a little bit about us, and what you’ll be working on: As mentioned, we’re currently an 9 person web team working on neat development challenges. We are a Python/Django shop, but we’re not snobby about what you’ve developed in before. We’re invested in helping you get ramped up in Python & Django should you be up for the challenge! The majority of your work will be brand new development, since we’re constantly innovating and building new applications or features for Compete.com If you’re interested in learning a new technology stack (or are already a Python lover), by all means, connect with us at careers@compete.com. Here are some of the things we're looking for in our next 2 team members:

• Web application programming skills. We will train you in Python as long as you have worked with an object oriented language (Java, PHP, C++, Perl, Rails, etc). .
• Strong front-end (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) skills are important. You should feel comfortable working in this layer, and have experience with the challenges of cross-browser and cross-platform design.
• Strong understanding of JavaScript, including experience with one or more of the popular libraries – e.g., jQuery, MooTools, Backbone, etc.
• A strong understanding of best practices for building and maintaining software on a team. You take pride in the code you write, and you hate copy-n-paste.
• We run a Scrum shop here, so we hope you’re at least excited about the notion of working on Agile teams.
