The Managing Director position (MD) is the most senior client services, product development and marketing focused role in Compete’s largest and fastest growing practice area. This role consolidates leadership of the client services team, client delivery, product development, practice marketing / visibility, and business development into this single, management position. The MD has overall responsibility for the client services and product team - including its vision, client delivery, P&L responsibility and team member growth and development.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Vision
- Facilitate thought leadership for the Online Media practice
- Champion product innovation and new product development supporting the companies development of media products
- Facilitate external outreach to industry and the press as well as being one of the spokespersons for the practice. Includes speaking engagements at major Online advertising events such as SES, Ad Tech, SMX, MediPost events, etc
- Oversee the production of marketing collateral, PR exposure and intellectual capital to expand Compete’s position as a data-driven thought leader in the Online Media space
- Evaluate and initiate business partnerships to expand service capabilities and continue the company’s expansion into the media space.
Client Development
- Grow existing clients relationships through the combination of over-delivery, value, trust and identifying new upsell opportunities
- Oversee client delivery and client satisfaction
- Establish self as a trusted advisor both internally and externally
- Train the client services team
Operations
- Manage product delivery to clients
- Monitor data quality and data delivery
- Make decisions on priority resolving potential conflicts related to capacity and resource constraints
- Ensure the relevance and actionability of client deliverables
Team Development
- Be an internal advocate for the Online Media team’s corporate interests
- Recruit new additions to the team
- Oversee training and professional development of existing client services and production team
- Facilitate the personal growth and development of team members
- Encourage team members’ collaboration with the rest of the company
- Mentor client leads on how to deliver provable (ROI) value and grow client relationships
- Contribute to the direction, success and growth of Compete’s business overall
- Contribute to making Compete a great place to work
Skills
- Proven experience in Online Media, Online Advertising, Search marketing, Social media, consulting, general marketing or marketing research
- Demonstrated success meeting and exceeding sales and renewal targets personnel development and team play.
- Proven leader with strong business acumen
- Experience leading, building and managing in a fast paced environment with a relentless focus on results and delighting clients
- Leadership skill in managing change and leading organizations successfully through change
- Experience delivering consulting-oriented services and recommendations to executive-level audiences
- Ability to create and implement processes that scale solutions, bring programs to market and effectively identify metrics that track performance
- Outstanding communication, client management and presentation skills
- Strong analytical acumen
- Candidates should have a proven track record of using creative marketing solutions to develop long term client relationships
- Sharp, innovative and creative mind
- Excellent communications, collaboration and motivational skills
- Agency experience a plus
- BA/BS required – MBA or other advanced degree preferred
