Practice Leadership
Karen Parker
Managing Director
Karen brings more than 14 years of product development and consulting experience in high technology to Compete that includes positions at PRTM and KBACE. As a Managing Director in the telecom & media practice, Karen leverages this experience to manage the practice including a team of client services professionals. Prior to joining Compete, Karen was Product Manager for KBACE Technologies, where she managed product development and operations. Previously at NaviPath, an Internet infrastructure provider, Karen was a Senior Director of Business Integration and managed critical projects. Karen has also been a Principal at the high-technology management consulting firm of Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath (PRTM), where she assisted wireless, wireline, Internet and communications companies with their business strategies / product development.
Karen holds a BA and MS from the University of California and an MBA from Dartmouth College.
Shane Dark
Director
Shane brings over a decade of online experience to Compete, focusing most recently on eBusiness strategic management, analytics and product management in the telecommunications industry. As a Director, Shane taps consumer behavior data to advise wireless providers and telecom companies on strategies to win, keep and grow customers more effectively. Prior to joining Compete, Shane was an eBusiness Product Manager for Sprint where he had multiple roles in strategic development, capabilities planning, business metric management, concept development and prioritization, data management and analytics. Previously, he was a Product Analyst for FriendlyWorks, Inc., an Internet startup offering an email and web browsing system for seniors.
Shane has a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and is currently pursuing his MBA with a concentration in Strategic Management at the University of Kansas.
Danielle Nohe
Director
Danielle brings a decade of telecommunications, client services, and consulting experience to Compete that includes positions at BearingPoint Consulting and Pivot, Inc. In these roles, Danielle helped technology and telecommunications companies build, launch, and market their products. As a Director in the telecom & media practice, Danielle leverages her experience to tap consumer behavior data to advise several strategic accounts on strategies to win, keep, and grow customers more effectively, with a specific focus on the effectiveness of the online channel. Danielle is also the champion behind Compete’s Smartphone Intelligence product which looks at the behavior and attitudes of Smartphone owners, providing insight to all types of marketers and advertisers to better leverage this mobile channel. Danielle holds a Bachelor’s in Economics from Boston College.
Elaine Sanfilippo
Director
Over the last decade, Elaine has helped technology and retail companies build, market and advertise their products. In her role as Director of Consumer Technologies at Compete, she leads a team of researchers and analysts focused on evaluating in-market consumer demand for mobile devices and other consumer technologies. Elaine advises OEMs on optimizing ad spend and marketing budget, especially around new product launches. Before joining Compete, Elaine worked at ProfitLogic (acquired by Oracle) designing pricing and marketing plans for Fortune 100 retailers. She has specific expertise in markdown optimization and product lifecycle management. Previously, she worked at Apple Computer building strategic plans for entry into new academic and government markets. Elaine is a frequent contributor to RCR Wireless, Fierce Wireless & Telecom and TMCnet. Her team at Compete recently released a joint study with CEA around the consumer technology shopping habits of older Americans and has just released a quarterly syndicated Smartphone Intelligence report about trends in the mobile space.
Elaine holds a BS in Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
